An unsparingly frank memoir that swerves seamlessly into a passionate polemic on the benefits and advantages of legalized prostitution. Indisputably, a masterpiece, it also comes with a supportive Introduction by his precursor/champion, Robert Crumb. "Chester Brown has never shied away from tackling controversial subjects in his work. In 'The Playboy' (1992), he explored his personal history with pornography. His graphic novel, 'Louis Riel' (2003), was a biographical examination of an extreme political figure that cemented Brown's reputation as an innovator. 'Paying For It' is a natural progression: It combines the personal and sexual aspects of his autobiographical work with the political polemics of 'Louis Riel'. Offers an entirely contemporary exploration of sex work, complete with a surprise ending" (Publisher's blurb). This is one of few copies of the First Hardcover Edition/First Printing still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright.
