Condizione: Very good. - Small quarto [ 6 inches high by 4-1/2 inches wide], color pictorial self-wraps. 8 stapled pages. Profuse color illustrations. The page corners are slightly bumped. There is a light crease to the last leaf & some light soiling to the last page. There are small stains around the staples on each page. The illustrations are bright and clean. Very good. "The Covered Wagon" is a 1923 American silent western released by Paramount Pictures. The film was directed by James Cruze, based on a novel by Emerson Hough about a group of pioneers traveling through the old West from Kansas to Oregon. The leads were played by J. Warren Kerrigan and Lois Wilson. Apart from the credits and details of the Chicago engagement on the first and last pages, the program describes spectacular highlights of the film and promises the audience unprecedented thrills and romance racing "with hurricane swiftness". The film was the most popular movie of 1923 in the U.S. and Canada.Rare program.

Draft script for the 1928 film. An early sound film, today considered lost, released with no dialogue, but with a synchronized musical score and sound effects, using sound-on-disc and sound-on-film processes. Based on John McGowan's 1927 play, about a cocky small-time acrobat who marries a talented dancer, then struggles with resentment as her star begins to rise while his does not (essentially the plot of "A Star is Born"). Beige titled Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer wrappers, dated April 3, 28, stamped copy No. 1765, noted as production No. 372, with credit for screenwriter Frances Marion. Title page integral with the first page of text, dated April 3, 1928, with credit for Marion. 100 leaves, with last page of text numbered 100. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good, bound with two gold brads.

Stapled Pamphlet. Condizione: Very Good+ binding. "The Covered Wagon" is considered the first great Western epic in movie history, establishing a number of cliches that became staples. Very nice copy of the booklet that "has been prepared to present to the public some interesting facts in connections with the production of this Paramount picture" (price 25 cents). Interesing item for the Teddy Roosevelt completist as the Paramount dedicated the movie to his memory; it so states on the verso of the front panel. Very Good+ binding.

Vintage double weight matte portrait photograph of actress Fritzi Ridgeway to publicize the 1923 Western film. With a mimeo snipe to the verso, along with the stamps of Paramount Pictures and photographer Eugene Robert Richee. Based on the 1915 novel, about a posh English valet who is forced to assimilate into a small town in the American West. Now considered to be a lost film. Shot on location in Eureka, California. 7.5 x 10 inches. Very Good plus, with light, even toning and slight edgewear.
