The cover is the familiar red hard cover with embossed impressions of traditional wrought iron hinges. The covers are softened over time and ruffled, badly bumped. The spine is faded slightly.Cosmetically, the book is poor but the binding is sound and it is in usable condition. In addition there are 96 pages of advertisements offering an insight into the traveller's needs of yesterday.

Some moderate sunning and tanning, particularly to spine.

The text block is very firm and quite even. The prelims are very tanned; the page edges of the block of adverts to rear are tanned; some of the text pages are lightly foxed. "With sixteen maps and plans" (some are fold-out). A few of the maps and plans are wrinkled. There is a small pink attachment on pages 52/53 with additions/corrections. Sticker with name and address on a blank Prelim. Not annotated. Good minus condition. Without jacket.
