Born in Kirkwall, Orkney, in 1887, and described as a 'renaissance man' and a 'rare spirit', Cursiter was remarkable for the range of his accomplishments and sheer painterly skill. ? Looks at Scottish art (painting), mostly concentrating on the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries though the introduction and first chapter look at the earlier period (sixteenth and seventeenth centuries). 135pp, 16 colour and 48 b&w illustrations. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
