Moves to Montreal and Edmonton followed, and then on to CBC where he has regularly provided play-by-play on Molson Hockey Night in Canada and hosted the World Figure Skating Championships. He was nominated for a Gemini Award for his coverage of a 1988 NHL playoff game. He lives in Brampton, Ontario with his family. Russell has been a host on Molson Hockey Night in Canada since 1989. His start was with CBC Charlottetown in 1985 as a reporter. In the past ten years, Russell has covered two Olympics, the 1994 Commonwealth Games and five Canada Games.
