Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Seminar paper from the year 2006 in the subject Dutch (Literature, Culture and Language), grade: 1,0, University of Applied Sciences Rotterdam, course: Dutch Culture, language: English, abstract: The Netherlands have a long heritage in trading and were once a mighty colonial power due to its outstanding naval power. Symbol of this trading and sea power was the Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (V.O.C.), 'the most powerful multinational in the history of the world' , which endured nearly two entire centuries., India, on the other hand, was the possibly most sought destination those days. Not only owing to its wealth of spices and raw materials, many European nations have sought their way to India and its riches. The Dutch conquered the southern parts of India, such as Malabar and Coromandel and affected the subcontinent in many terms, pursuing mainly trading purposes. The question arising from the relatively short presence of the Dutch and the V.O.C. on the Indian subcontinent aims at the extent to which that presence affected current India. Which aspects were brought to the Indian subcontinent by the Dutch seafarers of the V.O.C. Which effects did the presence of the Dutch have on South Indian history In how far was this era decisive to both the V.O.C.'s and India's destiny In order to understand the interrelations better, the V.O.C. and its history shall be introduced thoroughly in the beginning. Reasons for both the rapid increase in prosperity and for the decay of the global trading empire are to be explained as well as the extent of the sphere of the operations of the V.O.C.Then, a close-up to the Dutch East India Company in India in ancient times will follow, concentrating on both political and economical issues, on the one hand, and on other ancillary aspects, on the other one. Derived from this part, an analysis of current legacy in India, hinting at the era of occupation by the Dutch, will be attached to the essay. Finally, a completing point of view shall be taken in order to draw a conclusion regarding the Dutch influence on the Southern India of today.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Seminar paper from the year 2005 in the subject Business economics - Economic and Social History, grade: 1,0, University of Applied Sciences Rotterdam, course: European Affairs, language: English, abstract: What is the analysis about In view of globalization and economic reorganization, the EU needs to take up and intensify bilateral relations to current and future superpowers, like e.g. the United States of America and China People's Republic.Increasingly, India is both in terms of global politics and economically awaking and stepping into the first row of global powers. At least, this is what it is supposed to according to observer. Moreover, the role of a major regional actor makes up the significance of India as a strategic partner, esp. in the fight against terrorism, which haunts India in equal measure like Europe. Thus, the European Union naturally has to strengthen cooperation with India.Since the EU wisely foresaw the majority of developments, they installed the so-called regular 'EU / India Summit' in June 2000 and regular talks are held now.In the following, the analysis in question will deal with the steady relationship with India and the developments within the latter. Particularly, a focus is to be laid at the trade relations between the two sides.Firstly, I want to classify this relationship into the lane of all strategic partnerships of the European Union. By this, an evaluation of this relationship in contrast to other ones ought to be achieved. Starting from this, a description of the current situation between both parties and a prospect into the future of the latter are to be carried out. After a short explanation of the methodology, the findings will be presented. Here, a track down of particular issues to improve and new cooperation fields take the centre stage. This part is followed by a conclusion and possible solutions discovered during research. Based on those, recommendations will be made aiming particularly at trade relations. The European Union keeps up relations with several countries outside the old continent, and especially constant contact with six nations, i.e. the United States, Canada, Japan, China PR, Russia, and, most recently, India. Most currently, on September 7th, 2005, the sixth 'EU / India Summit' took place in New Delhi. The journey, led by British prime minister and current EU president, Tony Blair, originally began with an 'EU / China Summit'. Hence, political observers had the opportunity to directly compare the two relationships.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Essay from the year 2005 in the subject Business economics - Miscellaneous, grade: 1,0, Hogeschool Rotterdam (Rotterdam Business School), course: Cross-Cultural Management, language: English, abstract: Mexico has gained increasing significance in both regional and international business, due to the phenomenon generally known as globalization or mundialización, as Mexicans prefer to name. Globalization is explained as an increase of international economic and socio-cultural relations, especially in terms of supra-regional trade , , driven particularly by technology and media. In 1982, Latin America has started executing a wide opening of its markets and a 'quick liberalization of the latter' , as a reaction to 'a severe balance of payments crisis' . Over the years, its geo-strategic position between North and South America as well as the globalization 'have made Mexico the darling of the international business community' , at least one of the many beneficiaries in Latin America, Asia and Eastern Europe. Most recently, 'The Economist' certified Mexico's economy to be 'in good shape' with 'no serious macroeconomic problems at the horizon.' , So, generally and superficially speaking, Mexico is seemingly looking at a bright future in economic terms. Having this said, one has also to consider that integration and globalization are based on quickly developed and implemented trade developments, slowly followed by socio-political and cultural effects. Yet, the economic rise following the measures mentioned above has had several drawbacks, such as 'three currency crises, [.] the most recent of which occurred in 1995 following a large devaluation of the peso'. Effects of the integration development of the previous two decades were presented as mainly positive in the public, especially by lobbyists and groups favouring the current trends. However, there has been a large group of losers, which has not participated in the economic upswing of the country yet and probably will not for quite a long period of time. As a proof, one can consult different statistics about poverty increase in the country. , So, finally I want to analyse and, by weighing pro and contra arguments, possibly prove the thesis that there have been many advantages created and put into action by globalization, but that many Mexicans have not yet been included into the advantages of it yet.In order to carry this out, I am going to look closer at different forces of globalization acting upon Mexico as well as the different stakeholder groups representing the various interests involved nowadays in the overall development of the country.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Seminar paper from the year 2008 in the subject Transportation Science & Technology, grade: 1,3, University of Duisburg-Essen (Institut für Geographie (Wirtschaftsgeographie, insb. Verkehr und Logistik)), course: Verkehr und Nachhaltigkeit, language: English, abstract: All over the history, mobility has been an integral part of life. Europe features a high level of its unmatched infrastructure, allowing that mobility very well. Not only mobility of people, also the conveyance of goods profits from it. It has become a part of the European lifestyle since the citizens of the continent make use of transport services as a matter of course. Although the term 'Europe' is used, the essay mainly contains remarks about the transport sector of the European Union with its 27 member states by now.Transportation is termed as 'the totality of all translocations of persons [.] and goods [.] as well as news [.]' , 'which is to be geared to the needs for activity of men and to the environment.' The transport sector comprehends the extent of passenger use, the frequency of the lanes, the usage of the different means of transportation and the covered distances. As the title of this essay indicates, it is to deal with the concepts and objectives of a common transport policy throughout the European Union. The central and decisive element in this matter is the White Paper 'European transport policy for 2010 - Time to decide', published at the Gothenburg European Council in 2001. This document contains the essential abstract objectives and concrete measures or concepts for a more sustainable transport policy across the Union territory. These goals and measures can roughly be assigned to the two main categories of performance-enhancement and climate protection.By having referred to the 2006 Mid-term review during the presentation of current situation in the European transport sector, most interim results have already been presented earlier. Generally, it becomes obvious that progresses are made only sluggishly. In addition, the modal split balance is expected to remain stable. So, apart from certain exceptions, many premises do not change for the following action fields. After having considered the different sections of the transport policy in Europe, one can draw several conclusions. Sustained economic growth, which will continue to belong to the top priorities of the European Union, should be uncoupled from the rise in traffic volume. Therefore, efficiency and utilization rates have to be improved. At the same time though, environmental and social consequences of further growth has to be scanned carefully.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2006 in the subject Dutch (Literature, Culture and Language), grade: 1,0, University of Applied Sciences Rotterdam, course: Dutch Culture, language: English, abstract: The Netherlands have a long heritage in trading and were once a mighty colonial power due to its outstanding naval power. 20 pp. Englisch.

This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2005 in the subject Business economics - General, grade: 1,0, University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld, course: Internationale Wirtschaftsbeziehungen, language: English, abstract: Although South Africa was not very famous for its beverages, esp. its wines, for long times and has gained fame in recent years only, the heritage of its vine-growing culture goes back to the mid of the 17th century. European settlers, predominantly from The Netherlands, started to plant first seedlings in the Cape region. It was Jan van Riebeeck, founder of the Cape colony, who brought the seedlings along from Europe in 1655.Some four years later, the first South African wine was ready to be drunk. However, as the Dutch were not too experienced with viticulture, real development took place only when French Huguenots settled in that region in the end of the 17th century. In the mid of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century, these wines (e.g. the very sweet Constantia wines) were very popular all around Europe, particularly in the royal houses. But afterwards, the demand shrank to nearly zero. In 1973, viticulture was resumed in the African country. However, the wines were boycotted by the rest of the world due to the Apartheid problems within the country.Only from 1990 onwards, South African wine industry is recovering and nowadays belongs to the so-called 'New World wines', which also include products from Chile, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and the United States (California). 40 pp. Englisch.

This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Essay from the year 2005 in the subject Business economics - Miscellaneous, grade: 1,0, Hogeschool Rotterdam (Rotterdam Business School), course: Cross-Cultural Management, language: English, abstract: Mexico has gained increasing significance in both regional and international business, due to the phenomenon generally known as globalization or mundialización, as Mexicans prefer to name. 16 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2008 in the subject Transportation Science & Technology, grade: 1,3, University of Duisburg-Essen (Institut für Geographie (Wirtschaftsgeographie, insb. 52 pp. Englisch.

This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Geowissenschaften / Geographie - Wirtschaftsgeographie, Note: 1,0, Universität Duisburg-Essen (Institut für Geographie (Wirtschaftsgeographie, insb. 40 pp. Deutsch.
