Text in French, printed on heavy coated stock. Beveled green cloth boards with gold-stamped titles are clean, rubbed lightly at extremities.The D'Ollone Mission to Asia (1906 -1909) was sent by the French government as a research expedition to study the, non-Chinese races and cultures of China and the minorities that coexisted within the Chinese empire. The expedition traveled over 8,000 km horseback, in regions still little or not at all subject to the central government in an unstable geopolitical context. D'Ollone reported geographical studies, archaeological, ethnographic and linguistic and published numerous maps, photos, studies and books with special empathesis on the Muslims of Western China. .
