A well-used text, this particular copy bears the bookplate of our late friend Billy Joe Tatum, noted author, herbalist, and wild foods authority. Herself the wife of an Arkansas country doctor, she collected many such books, and (typical of her) left inside this copy a penny postcard dated 1910 from a doctor's brother, advising him he "need not come," because "Esta's fever is getting along nicely." Postcard will be included with this sale. A fun collectible, containing many drops of wisdom, such as (in a passage to "be exceedingly cautious in giving certificates of insanity . . .)
