This volume is based on a symposium entitled "Evolution and Diversification of the Postcranium in Primates" which was held at the Fifty-Sixth Annual Meetings of the American Association of Physical Anthropologists in New York on April 4, 1987. The purpose of the symposium was to address the relationship between the acquisition of novel locomotor strategies and the origin and radiation of major groups of primates.
