      Philadelphia: A. Hart, 1853. Dahlgren designed a percussion lock in 1835, and first tested it during a Med cruise in 1845. So he writes as the acknowledged early expert. See Smith II, 3839. Ownership signature of Frank M. Ramsey who attained the rank of Rear Admiral and served as the head of the Gunnery Department at the US Naval Academy. Text shows some foxing, but the striking lithograph plates are spotless. Bound in half green morocco over printed boards.
