In Anlehnung an Jim Cummins und seine Unterscheidung zwischen basic interpersonal communicative skills (BICS) und cognitive academic language proficiency (CALP) sowie darauf aufbauende Modelle beschäftigt sich die Arbeit insbesondere mit den schulisch-akademischen Fähigkeiten in beiden Sprachen.
