"Hidden Water" by Dane Coolidge is a novel written in the early 20th century; this First Edition was published Oct. 29 1910. Set in the Old West, the story revolves around the conflict between cattlemen and sheepmen, exploring themes of rivalry, land rights, and social dynamics within a rough-and-tumble desert town in Arizona. Front & Rear boards with cowboy on the range illustration are faded and showing rub wear that blurs the illustration. Front is in Fine shape the rear is poor. Corner bumping and edge wear. Light blue paste down cloth spine is faded and has chipping and small closed tears at extremities. No DJ. Pages show age toning to edges. 4 full color Maynard Dixon illustrations are as crisp and vibrant as they were 116 years ago. Pg 477/478 torn out. All other interior 482 pages are crisp clean and unmarked. 5 1/2" Wide x 81/4" Tall x 2" Thick.

Edges and the title page are a little foxed, mild toning to the margins of the pages facing the plates, but text is generally clean and the plates are in nice condition. A fairly attractive copy and about very good overall. FIRST EDITION of Coolidge's second novel. See Tuska, "Coolidge, Dane," in Vinson, "Twentieth Century Western Writers," p. 143.
