The plates include portraits, facsimile page from Fraser's journal of his travels; title page facsimile of Harmon's Journal of Voyages and Travels (1820; see Wagner-Camp-Becker #17); etc. This work by the respected historian John Spargo, contains largely hitherto unpublished material on the lives of fur-traders Daniel Williams Harmon and Simon Fraser. The book traces their lives from their births in Bennington, Vermont through their careers in Canada with the North West Company. The book is cited in Peel's BIBLIOGRAPHY OF THE PRAIRIE PROVINCES (3rd ed) #431 [but not in Peel, 2nd ed]. Curiously, mention of Simon Fraser is omitted from the 4th edition of THE PLAINS AND THE ROCKIES [1982, Wagner-Camp-Becker], but he does appear in two entries (#7 and #17) in the 3rd edition [1953, Wagner-Camp].
