Condizione: Good. First ed., first printing; 287 p., immaculate and unmarked, plus 63 p. of publisher's catalogue--with interesting quotes from the critics; 23 very droll cartoons by MAC (Captain G. O Machin D.F.C.) in B&W; emerald green ribbon book marker; royal blue boards, somewhat bumped in absence of d.j., and with rubbing at crown and foot of spine; binding firm although front gutter is cracking. The author was a Polish-born British composer of light music inspired by his training in Vienna, and his memoirs have a certain breezy charm. He also recounts the reminiscences of others, such as the American band leader Paul Whiteman's memories of the Prince of Wales (later the Duke of Windsor) who loved to dance and was known to personally serve champagne to the band members. Very entertaining.
