Darwin" printed beneath. Volume II has 562 pages including 530 of text plus appedices and an index. Volume I contains a frontispiece with tissue guard and one additional plate featuring a facsimile of a page of one of Darwin's 1837 notebooks. Books are clean and unmarked. Spines are a bit sunned.

Pages are virtually pristine and intact except for light age toning, occasional small marks, and occasional foxing. Covers are very clean and intact except for light wear to extremities, slight darkening to top edge of text block, and a small bump on fore-edge of Vol. III's back cover. Marbling on boards, edges of text block, and endpapers features rich, saturated colors and is still vibrant and not rubbed (slight darkening on top edges of text blocks but that is the only notable defect as to the marbling). Each volume and the overall set are Fine. Beautiful set of three volumes containing a biography of Charles Darwin (1809-1882), the eminent English naturalist, biologist, and geologist. Also includes an autobiographical chapter and reprinted letters by Charles. Edited by Francis Darwin (1848-1925), Charles's third son who went on to become a botanist.
