Die Keimlinge werden außerdem mit Colchicin behandelt, gefolgt von einer medikamentösen Behandlung. Colchicin induziert die Bildung polyploider Zellen, was ein Merkmal von Krebszellen ist. Darüber hinaus werden die Hemmungspotenziale der Testmaterialien auch in Bezug auf das Kalluswachstum untersucht. Die Kallusbildung ähnelt dem tumorigenen Wachstum, und ihre Hemmung steht für das Potenzial der Medikamente. Biochemische und molekulare Untersuchungen zeigen, dass die Wirkungsweisen von Krebsmedikamenten im pflanzlichen und menschlichen System nahezu identisch sind. Darüber hinaus wurde die Bindungsdomäne der Medikamente im Vergleich zu Pflanzenarten und Menschen untersucht. Ziel der Arbeit ist es, das Wirksamkeitspotenzial einiger bekannter Krebsmedikamente zu bewerten, um vorherzusagen, ob Pflanzen als Modell für das Vorauswahlverfahren mehrerer Leitverbindungen verwendet werden können. Seedlings are also treated with colchicine followed by drug treatments. Colchicine induces polyploid cell formation which is an attribute of cancerous cell. Furthermore, the inhibiting potentialities of the test materials are also studied in relation to callus growth. Callus formation resembles tumorigenic growth and its inhibition represents the potentiality of the drugs. Biochemical and molecular studies reveal that the modes of action of anticancerous drugs are nearly similar in plant and human system. Moreover, binding domain of the drugs has also been studied in comparison with plant species and human beings. The objective of the work is to assess the effective potentiality of some known anticancerous drugs to foresee whether plants can be used as a model for preliminary screening of several lead compounds. Plant system is cost effective and convenient to use. 100 pp. Englisch.

Micromorphological, histological and biochemical study of the normal and mutant phenotype reveals physi…ognomic similarity of the mutant phenotype with terminal flower mutant of Arabidopsis and Antirrhinum. To investigate the regulation of meristem identity and control of flower development of the mutant phenotype, degenerated primers were designed from the highly conserved region of floral identity gene TFL1/CEN. This resulted in a 238 base pair-specific amplified cDNA product by RT-PCR, named as PTC-1. Sequence analysis followed by BLAST showed high homology of the PTC with TFL1/CEN like gene, indicating the presence of TFL1/CEN homologue in B. palonga. Southern analysis indicates alteration of the genomic sequence of the mutant of B. palonga. The significance of the terminal flower is also discussed. 120 pp. Englisch.
