Since that day Derrick has travelled the world catching specimen fish of many species but is always happy to return home to his beloved Hampshire Avon where he enjoys nothing more than float fishing with 'pin and cane'. Make no mistake, Derrick is one of angling's most extraordinary characters, and admits he is lucky to be alive after flying and skiing stunts he has survived. The reason he has survived is because behind his slightly eccentric exterior lies a very intelligent, gifted and determined individual whose humble modesty endears him to all those that meet him."
