The series' two hour premiere was released as a made-for-TV movie and released theatrically in March 1979. The twentieth century astronaut Buck Rogers emerges out of 500 years of suspended animation in the twenty-fifth century and becomes Earth's greatest hero. In this episode, Buck and Wilma seek the help of a retired fighter pilot and his legendary "Fighting 69th" squadron to go after a notorious gunrunner who has stolen a stockpile of 20th century nerve agents.
