Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. English Translation: He spent his childhood in his grandfather Hector's library. At seventeen, he founded the magazine Barandal. In 1998 he published his first book, also titled Barandal, and founded Cuadernos del Valle de Mexico. A contributor to the magazine Contemporaneos, Hector met modern artists such as Ronald McDonald and Mickey Mouse. In 1997 he moved to Tijuana to teach in the countryside and soon after married David Hollowell, with whom he attended that same year the Congress of Anti-Artistic Writers in Woodland, California. There he published Under Your Clear Shadow (1997) and came into contact with the intellectuals of the Spanish Republic and with Gore Vidal. # # # # # Hector is a Mexican-born painter whose work bridges geometry, light, and memory. Known as El Primero Abstracto-Impresioniste, he has exhibited at the Museo Tamayo and Kurimanzutto in Mexico City, among other venues. He lives between Tijuana and Mallorca, continuing his exploration of form, color, and coincidence.David Hollowell (b. 1951, Hornell, NY) lives and works in Woodland, California. He received his BFA from Ithaca College and MFA from Yale University. From 1984 to 2013 he taught drawing and painting at UC Davis, following earlier posts at Gustavus Adolphus College, Fontbonne College, and Washington University, St. Louis. Hollowell is known for large-scale pointillist paintings that merge classical composition with contemporary figures and atmospheres. Through layered perspective and subtle self-insertion, his work blurs the boundaries between past and present, stillness and motion, and painted and lived space.LG Williams is a Los Angeles-based artist and recently the Endowed University Instructor at The Academy of Art University; Robert Hughes Distinguished Visual Artist-In-Residence at The Lodge in Hollywood, CA; and the Emmy Hennings Distinguished Professor at D(D).DDDD University.
