Some edge wear to top and bottom of covers and spine, slight backwards lean probably caused by slight damp distortion, corners bruised, no published price, no inscriptions, internally clean and tight, overall a vg copy for its age. 144pp, illustrated. William Carleton Irvine (1871-1946), was a missionary, writer and the founding editor of the Indian Christian magazine. This is his account of working for 25 years among the lepers of India. This book was widely read and Irvine and his long suffering wife were held up as model missionaries. Quite a scarce book.

Includes a list of family papers and documents relating the Davies-Cooke family from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Estates mentioned include North Reston, Lincolnshire; Thornhurst, Yorkshire and Nottingham and the church and living of Owston. One of only a handful of copies produced, this copy presented to the donor by the compiler. The family had previously made a deposit of family papers in 1953.
