William Clark Russell (1844 - 1911) was an American author who spent most of his life in England, was in the British merchant marine, and wrote a number of nautical novels. Originally published in 1876 in England, this is the second volume of Captain Fanny's adventures; she was a young woman who disguised herself as a man to become a sailor. This edition of his novel was published by Grosset & Dunlap in the United States. Original red cloth publisher's covers with black spine and cover lettering, and cover decoration that also includes a pictorial paste on. The top corner of about half pages in the rear are bumped (the cover, however, is not bumped). This is uncommon in any early edition. ; B&W Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 376 pages.
