Paperback. Condizione: Very Good. Learners complain that they do not get enough feedback, and educators resent that although they put considerable time into generating feedback, students take little notice of it. Both parties agree that it is very important. Feedback in Higher and Professional Education explores what needs to be done to make feedback more effective. It examines the problem of feedback and suggests that there is a lack of clarity and shared meaning about what it is and what constitutes doing it well. It argues that new ways of thinking about feedback are needed. There has been considerable development in research on feedback in recent years, but surprisingly little awareness of what needs to be done to improve it and good ideas are not translated into action. The book provides a multi-disciplinary and international account of the role of feedback in higher and professional education. It challenges three conventional assumptions about feedback in learning: That feedback constitutes one-way flow of information from a knowledgeable person to a less knowledgeable person. That the job of feedback is complete with the imparting of performance-related information. That a generic model of best-practice feedback can be applied to all learners and all learning situations It seeking a new approach to feedback, it proposes that it is necessary to recognise that learners need to be much more actively involved in seeking, generating and using feedback. Rather than it being something they are subjected to, it must be an activity that they drive. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.…

Paperback. Condizione: Very Good. Information and Communications Technology has revolutionised the ways we process, access and use information and, as computers and other devices become ever more powerful, and information becomes more readily available, the next generation will need to be able to interact with digital media effectively to exploit these amazing new technologies to their full potential for the benefit of society. It is therefore imperative that teachers become familiar with ICT and its true potential and can present information with a perspective similar to that which the present generation of young people is using to develop their interests in their everyday life. This resource from the RSC gives teachers of chemistry the practical help needed to integrate ICT into their teaching and stimulate the enthusiasm of a new generation of scientists in the exciting new areas of chemistry that are opening up such as Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Furthermore, it will be highly effective in developing the new ethos of sustainability that will be a major driving force behind the next advances in chemistry that are vital if we are to survive the manifold problems confronting society in the next few decades. This resource is ideal for all secondary teachers of chemistry, trainee teachers and university lecturers. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.…

Paperback. Max Charlesworth (Deakin University, Victoria), Cambridge University Press. This readable and balanced book is an original discussion of contemporary issues in bioethics. Max Charlesworth argues that as there can be no public consensus on a set of core values--liberal societies accept a variety of religious, nonreligious, political and moral stances, there should be a plurality of ethical stances as well. On this basis he discusses issues such as the ending of human life, new reproductive technologies and the ethical distribution of limited healthcare resources, particularly hospital care. Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - For every group that is oppressed, another group is privileged. Here, Bob Pease argues that privilege, as the other side of oppression, has received insufficient attention in both critical theories and in the practices of social change. As a result, dominant groups have been allowed to reinforce their dominance. The second edition of Undoing Privilege extensively revises the six sites of privilege from the first edition: Western dominance, class elitism, white and patriarchal privilege and heterosexual and able-bodied privilege to reflect policy shifts and new social movement initiatives as well as the latest research and resources. This edition also includes four new chapters on anthropocentrism, cisgender privilege, adultism and Christian privilege. Pease points out that while the vast majority of people may be oppressed on one level, many are also privileged on another. He demonstrates how members of privileged groups can engage critically with their own dominant position, and explores the potential and limitations of them forming relations of solidarity against oppression and their unearned privilege. The second edition includes new theoretical developments in privilege theory, collective responsibility, complicity in systemic injustice and allyship. It is an essential book for all who are concerned about developing theories and practices for a socially just world.…

Buch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - Amazingly, there was a sense of calm, even though the sounds of sirens and the sight of burning buildings loomed all around. The smell of tear gas filled the air, yet this crowd remained eerily calm as they waited for someone to speak. Jackson assumed that the panthers were armed and scattered throughout the area but there was no voice of leadership to be heard. They had yet to determine exactly who the enemy might be. There was no Stokely Carmichael, no Bobby Seale, no Malcolm X, no Huey Newton, no H. Rap Brown, Angela Davis, Jesse Jackson, Eldridge Cleaver and now.no Martin Luther King for peace. There was, however.an army of police cars that had began to arrive in the manner of the well-trained riot police of Alabama.…
