These nations would be engaged in a new competition for control of world affairs that would be called the Cold War. AUTHOR: Reiner Decher received a doctorate degree in aeronautical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a retired aeronautical engineering professor with a career at the University of Washington and industrial experience at The Boeing Company, all of which was focused on aircraft propulsion. He is also the son of one of the engineers who experienced the post-war turmoil, came to the US, and worked productively in the field of aviation engines. The contributing authors went through the experiences described here and documented them for historians to remember.
