This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Sesame (Sesamum indicum L., 2n = 26) is a very ancient oilseed crop grown next to groundnut and mustard in India. It belongs to the order Tubiflorae, family Pedaliaceae. It is basically considered a crop of tropical and sub-tropical regions but, it has also spread to the temperate parts of the world. Africa has been considered to be the primary centre of origin of sesame and it spread early through West Asia to India, China and Japan which themselves became secondary distribution centres. Sesame is called as the 'Queen of Oilseeds' because of its excellent qualities of the seed, oil and meal. Generally, the oil content in sesame ranges from 34 to 63%. 148 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Castor (Ricinus communis L., 2n=20,Euphorbiaceae family) is one of the most ancient, non-edible, medicinal and industrial oilseed crops of the country. Castor is indigenous to Eastern Africa and most probably originated in Ethiopia. The castor bean plant has been cultivated for centuries for oil produced by its seeds. The Egyptians burned castor oil in their lamps more than 4,000 years ago. By virtue of its hardiness, it plays an important role in the agricultural economy of India by earning substantial foreign exchange. It has the ability to grow under drought and saline conditions and is most suitable for dryland farming.
