Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Near Fine. Second Printing (Number Line to 2). You can see the covers of the book itself in the photos. They are exceptionally clean. I don't see any soiling. The cover edges are in excellent condition. So are the corners. No rubbing on either. The only cover wear is very minor, a light crease at the bottom edge of the spine and a little crinkling on both sides of the top and bottom spine edges. The page edges are perfectly clean. The book is square and the spine looks straight. The binding of the book is very solid from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The book is profusely illustrated. Almost all of the artwork, with the exception of the seventh section on photography, is in color. The interior of the book is in excellent condition. The pages are exceptionally clean. Scrolling through, I'm not finding any instances of soiling. The pages are nicely bright. I'm not finding any creasing, no turned-down corners or placeholder creases. There are no markings. No attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. The inside covers and end papers are a peach color. They are all perfectly clean. The Appendices at the end of the book include a list of Art Dealers who specialize in African American art in different states, also a list of Photography Resources in different states, a list of African American Museum Association Resources in different states. There is a Selected Bibliography and finally an Index. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. I have always had it in a fitted protective cover ( note that it is difficult to escape the glare from the fitted cover). The jacket is in very nice condition. It is very clean. I'm seeing just a few specks of spots. I'm not seeing any tears. There is a small spot of crinkling at the bottom edge of the spine. The flaps are in excellent condition, very clean, no soiling, no tears, no creases. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. From the dust jacket: 'Combining a rich and diverse blend of aesthetic traditions from Africa, and the United States, African American Art has emerged as the most actively collecting art in the marketplace. This guide presents both new and established artists and identifies dealers throughout the nation specializing in the field. Insightful and accessible, it is the first book to define the role of the collector of African American art. The result is a unique and essential guide to developing a meaningful and rewarding collection.' 'Fascinating and fertile diversity of images ranging from the mid-nineteenth century to the present colorfully proclaim the visual rewards that await those who follow the author's wise counsel.'--- Elisabeth Garrett, Senior Vice-President, Christies. 'Adds knowledge and insight into the motivation, creativity, and aesthetic of Black artists. I highly recommend Collecting African American Art: Works on Paper and Canvas'-- Jacob Lawrence, renowned African American artist.
