The episodes in the books of this series are based on notes entered in her diary while she was living among the Indians. This book is a story of the adventures of two little Indian boys whose homes were birch-bark wigwams in the woodlands. Pages are lightly tanned and have a some spots of handling soil. The illustrations by the author are still beautiful and bright. From the Introduction: "The illustrations are from water-color painting by Edwin W. Deming, who in his boyhood determined that his life objective should be to record in pictures the old-time life and customs of the American Indians. Mr. Deming lived for many years among various tribes and was adopted into the Blackfoot tribe." The Indians in Winter Camp book has 126 pages; the Little Eagle book has 96 pages. Shelf: B-1.
