Items relating to Gladys Moncrieff, from the collection of Barrie Denniss (for many years President of the Gladys Moncrieff International Fan Club); 8 handwritten cards and letters by Moncrieff addressed to one Eileen Clancey of Paddington (NSW), a fan with whom Moncrieff had correspondence over a number of years; also includes 9 original photographs of Moncrieff (8 b&w and one colour), ranging from portraits, to Moncrieff in performance, and including one with Joan Hammond - photo sizes of the Moncrieff pictures generally whole-plate or larger and with one half-plate - condition tired, with creases and rubbing, and with some crudely torn from photo albums (still adhered to pages); also included here is Barrie Denniss' photo album containing numerous b&w's (mostly from the 1930's) showing scenes from North Queensland (identified to rear of pictures) including the Townsville Post Office, Jolimont Creek, Balnagowan, Burdekin River (traffic bridge), Brandon, the quarry at Mt Bassett, Murwillumbah, Stanton Hill, Magnetic Island; NSW pictures show Newcastle Harbour, Nobbys Lighthouse, Newcastle Showgrounds, Newcastle Steel Works, Slade Point, Stroud, The Basin (Newcastle), and one of Port of Newcastle with steam ship SS Teralba; many other photos of unidentified locations - these in original (1950's?) pb Picture Album, 25 x 12.5 cm; Denniss' photos are generally sixth-plate in size, condition ranging from Good-Fair; also a number of Denniss portraits and family photos, including one whole-plate with Don Seccombe; Gladys Moncrieff was a celebrated Australian singer, with an especial talent for musical theatre, who became known as 'Australia's Queen of Song', or simply 'Our Glad'. . . .
