Unbound. Condizione: Very Good. 1st. 10" x 12.75" b/w engraving as shown; faint stamp on reverse; Charles-Pierre Denonvilliers was one of the most influential and prolific French anatomists and surgeons of the 19th century. Born in Paris and educated at the Paris Faculty of Medicine in 1826, he steadily created a reputation for himself in the field of medicine. Starting in 1833, Denonvilliers lectured with exquisite clarity and scientific accuracy in surgery and anatomy. Not only did he make a name for himself in this arena but also as an anatomist of high caliber based on his anatomical dissections and presentations. These talents and skills afforded Denonvilliers the opportunity to acquire different other titles and positions throughout his career. His reputation as a plastic surgeon, anatomist, and lecturer coupled with his status and influence made his sudden death in 1872, an occasion of bereavement for the French medical profession. Size: 10" x 12.75". B/w Engraving, Unknown Artist (illustratore).…

Hardcover. Condizione: Very good. Condizione sovraccoperta: No Jacket issued. 112 engraved plates of balconies, friezes, pumps, balustrades, roses, ornaments, garnitures, coat hooks, stick stands, religious crosses and funeral ornaments and monuments, with weights and measurements, by Muffat-Joly & Leymarie, C. Bride, L. Chaumont, E. Laurent, A. Lemaitre and others, on tabs, and three additional plates tipped in at rear. Large folio (392 x 290m) orig. blue cloth, rebacked, some marking on covers, corners repaired, This famous foundry in the Haute Marne had offices and shops in Paris at the Rue de Lancry. As usual with these types of catalogues there are gaps in the numbering of the plates, the last being 509. They were bound using a selection of plates, often for a particular client. Most of the plates have at the head 'L.Denonvilliers' the name of the company before 1870 when it became associated with the Saleur brothers. Some plates presumably earlier printings have at the head 'L. Denonviliers Successeur d'Auguste Godard'. The range of their products is remarkable,as they print at the beginning of the catalogue 'Fontes de Fer de Toutes Especes'. The drawings are very detailed which would enable particular examples to be identified as this firm's work. …
