Ce sauvetage dans lequel il sacrifia sa cargaison pour sauver les malheureux en perdition lui valut honneur et gloire, mais lui coûta sa fortune. On y trouvera également un édition ancienne de la préface au journal révolutionnaire le "Courrier Français", et une édition du récit des Massacres de Septembre par le Bordelais Jourgniac de Saint-Méard.
