Im Laufe der Ausführung werden drei ausgewählte Werke von Marx auf die Entwicklung des Entfremdungsgedanken untersucht und zwar: die Ökonomisch-philosophischen Manuskripte, die Deutsche Ideologie, insbesondere den Teil I. Feuerbach und das Kapital. Der Auswahl ist durch die Teilung in zwei Phasen, in Früh- und Spätschriften der Marxschen Werke bestimmt, wobei das Konzept der entfremdeten Arbeit in den Pariser Manuskripten von 1844 enthalten ist. Besonders interessant für das Erklärungsvermögen der Arbeit sind auch die Auseinandersetzungen und die Anlehnungen der Marxschen Theorie an den Philosophen Hegel und Feuerbach, die zum Ausdruck kommen werden. Die Selbstkritik und der Vergleich zwischen den Denkern helfen dabei, Marx von seinen Zeitgenossen auszugrenzen und das Neue und Besonderen nicht nur an seiner Entfremdungstheorie, sondern im gesamten Gefüge der Gesellschafts- und Revolutionstheorie zu finden. Es wird auch danach gefragt welche Rolle die Entfremdung überhaupt für Marx spielt und zu welcher Zwecke er von der entfremdeten Arbeit auch Gebrauch macht. In drei Schritten wird auf die einzelnen Texte eingegangen und die wichtigsten Stellen analysiert und verglichen. Am Ende der Arbeit wird auch ein Fazit über die Kritik und die Weiterentwicklung der Theorie der Entfremdung gezogen. Gerade in den Ökonomisch-philosophischen Manuskripten ist der entscheidende Kernteil des Konzepts der entfremdeten Arbeit zu finden.
