Format in-4°( 34,8 x 28 cm )( 2470 gr ). ****************************** Hardback quarto size & Dust jacket - 192 pages profusly illustrated . -------- Four years after his first, successful monograph (published as a second part in the A&D Series by Beta-Plus) a new monograph is now being published dedicated to the work of the Franco- Belgian architect and designer Olivier Lempereur and his wife Helene. All the projects are new and have never been published: apartments and town houses in Paris and Brussels, the boutiques of Diptyque in London and Paris, Pierre Herme and Pierre Marcolini boutiques in Paris, Agence OL in Paris and the Notify showroom in Paris. This fabulous coffee table book shows a world of elegance, refinement and discrete luxury, the characteristics of every creation of Helene and Olivier Lempereur. ****************************.

New Edition, revue et corrigee. 12mo., pp. 386, 380, ii; 372, [v]. Three volumes. Bound leather backed paper boards (rubbed), lacking the front flyleaf in volumes 1-2. a good set. A contemporary owner has written a table of contents on the rear flyleaf. An important French writer and thinker, DeStael (1766-1817) dominated the thought and politics of much of England and the Continent and was an ardent foe of the Emperor Napoleon. She was one of the major precursors of Romanticism and modern criticism whose writings reflected the liberal Republican spirit of the late eighteenth century"[Wilson p 1180]. She supported the Revolution until she became disenchanted with "The Terror"; and was similarly supportive of Napoleon until he dashed her hopes for a liberal Republic. The novel, on Germany, was a source of her great conflict with Napoleon who was determined that the book should not appear in Paris. Indeed, when the book was published, it and she were banshed from France.

First Edition. Bound After: DE L'INFLUENCE DES PASSIONS SUR LE BONHEUR DES INDIVIDU ET DES NATIONS. Londres: Colburn, 1813.312, 72. 8vo, pp. xii, 270. Bound with the half-title in mottled calf, small chip on the corner of the spine label. With the bookplate of Henrietta Antonia Clive, Countess of Powis (see below.) Some offswetting from the bookplate, A near fine copy. "Reflections on Suicide" was first published by itself in London. The first work was originally issued in 1796 in Lausanne. An important French writer and thinker. DeStael (1766-1817) dominated the thought and politics of much of England and the Continent and was an ardent foe of the Emperor, Napoleon. She was one of the major precursors of Romanticism and modern criticism whose writings reflected the liberal Republican spirit of the late eighteenth century"[Wilson p 1180]. She supported the Revolution until she became disenchanted with "The Terror"; and was similarly supportive of Napoleon unil he dashed her hopes for a liberal Republic. from Wikipedia: "Henrietta Antonia Clive, Countess of Powis (née Herbert; 3 September 1758 3 June 1830), was a British writer, mineral collector, and botanist. Her time in India, while her husband was Governor of Madras, was inspirational to her for all three of these pursuits. Born in Oakly Park, at Bromfield, Shropshire, into a landed and titled family, she was the daughter of Henry Herbert, 1st Earl of Powis, and Barbara Herbert, granddaughter of William Herbert, 2nd Marquess of Powis. Her family owned a property in London and significant estates in Wales and Shropshire. Her birthplace was sold to Robert Clive, 1st Baron Clive, in 1771, so Lady Henrietta spent her teenage years at the family's ancestral home, Powis Castle. Lady Clive's journals are one of the first written accounts of India by a British woman. Published in the 2010 edited collection Birds of Passage: Henrietta Clive's Travels in South India 1798-1801, they were an important milestone in the emergence of female travel writers and their ascension to the level of their male counterparts".
