Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book uncovers a rarely explored perspective on college life in Cambridge during the reign of King James I. The author presents a vivid description of academic culture, everyday occurrences, and the trials and tribulations as a resident at St. John's College through the eyes of undergraduate Symonds D'Ewes. The book unearths the character of Symonds D'Ewes as a loyalist and a devout Protestant. His academic pursuits ran parallel to his religious piety, which guided his life on campus and beyond. D'Ewes's perspectives, recorded in a trove of personal diaries, provide unique insights into the intellectual and religious issues of early 17th-century England. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
