His father was a farmer, and had been at one time a black- smith. Miller was born on March 1, 1857, at the little village of Cross River, four and a half miles from Katonah, and was christened Jahu Dewitt.W. Irving Way (1853-1931) was a Chicago-based American author, book collector, and publisher. He is best known as a founding partner of the 1890s publishing firm Way & Williams, which notably published L.
