Interesting photo collection of the process of engineering and building of the sport facility, the People's Stadium (today: Ferenc Puskás Stadium). The engineering of the building by the architect Károly Dávid started in 1948 as part of the first Soviet-style Hungarian Three Year Plan. The stadium was built in the style of the socialist realism but still preserved some characters of international modernism due to the chief architect Dávid, who was member of the organisation CIAM (Congrčs internationaux d'architecture moderne). The near 70,000 capacity building was built until 1953 with a large number of volunteers, including soldiers in order to keep the deadlines. The stadium became a multi-purpose building, beside sport events it hosts concerts, among other international stars Loius Armstrong, the Queen, Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Sting, U2 or the Guns N'Roses held concert there. - 15 photographic reproductions of the plans (drawings and models), showing the various ideas for the entrance building and the stadium. One model captured twice in slightly altered light. - 5 images showing an early stage of the building process, the steel and the reinforced concrete structure of the building, from April and November 1952. - 8 photos of a more developed stage, the grandstand erected. 5 of them credited and dated on verso (Dezs? Sziklai; April, 1953), 1 by Zoltán Seidler, and 2 uncredited. - 3 interiors and a night photo of the entrance by Seidler probably in August 1953, around the opening of the Stadium. . 32 black and white, original, vintage photographs of the building of the sport facility.
