The first official development Aid, the Marshall Plan was a successful model that rebuilt devastated Europe. Aids, for third world development however, could not prove its outcome. Four decades after the beginning of development aid, Africa is poorer than fourty years ago, claims Dambisa Moyo, a prominent American educated scholor and development policy expert. Despite the flow of billions of dollors in African economies, they are more dependent today than ever before. She claims that Aid made Africans lazy. They see it as a regular income and do not try to build their nation themselves. This has a huge impact in the future of Africa. She believes that the donor countries should stop the flow of aid, as it never reaches the ones who really need it. Other prominent development aid experts however doubt this argument because this could mean millions of deaths in short term. However, we can conclude that the way how development aid functions today could be organized in a better way so that it will be more effective. The role of transnational agencies like the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) should be reformed. The pre-conditions for short term and long term loans should not be made dependent on market liberalisation or opening the third world markets. Rwanda, a country that experienced the horrors of one of the most terrible genocide in human history, when the Hutu Militants killed almost one million Tutsis within few months, is one of the most stable countries in Africa today. Its economy is booming, it has an excellent security system. Rwanda did not get Aid from third countries for years. It fought itself to come out of the nightmares of Genocide and built a stable economy, without aid. Today, Africans learn from Rwanda. They have understood that life is possible without aid and the first step to that is being independent from any foreign assistence. Rwanda presented itself as a role model in Africa that some development aid experts started to believe that aid should be given but there should be a time frame. The Marshall Plan in Western Europe had a time frame, after few years, aid flow stopped and the Europeans had to pay back the money. Same model would be plausible for Africa and all the receivers of development aid. They should know that aid is not for always, it is just a help to selfhelp.…

We have seen the rise of South Korea, which had the equal per capita income as Mozambique in late fifties. Today South Korea stands as a developed country. We have seen the growth of China when Mao went. From Deng Xiaoping to Xiang Jemin to Hu Jintao, it kept its economy open and recently overtook Germany as the third largest economy of the world. China is on the way to become the second largest economy. India, from the early ninetees, took similar policy. India grew when the world economy was in downturn. The rise of BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) countries has re-shaped the world order. Mexico proudly declares itself as a North American country today and no more intends to turn back to its old identity as a Central American country. The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) has been good for Mexican economy as they can sell their products in the United States and Canada now. Indonesia shares similar story. Even though it was runned by one of the terrible dictator of the world, Suharto, he brought liberal policies in the country encouraging Privatisation, Free Trade and more market liberalization. After the Asian financial crisis of 1997, people lost faith in him and finally toppled him. Growth was felt in other parts of the world as well. Emergence of computarized technologies, World Wide Web, digital technologies etc have reshaped the world. Nepal, however, did not change much. Even though it enjoyed the modern developments from other parts of the world, it could not establish itself as a country capable to adopt such changes. There are many things to blame. Ill adviced policies of the past, weak justice system, ineffective education policies, high corruption, nepotism etc are just handful of things. In this paper, I will point out some sectors which need immediate change in Nepal. I will recommend some policy advices and finally analyse some future scenarios in international level which have huge impact on Nepalese economics and politics.…

Big data enables us to build models that can be used to predict the occurrence of disease.Based on this information, actions can be taken to prevent the disease. Data also helps to manage the disease by offering helpful insights. Medical personnel can retrieve the patient data, with the help of AI, they can make faster decisions allowing them to spend more quality time with the patients and reduce cognitive errors. Through the interviews, it was understood that even though the positive role of big data has been acknowledged, the implementation is still a challenge due to various limitations. The challenges lie mainly on technical know-how and domain knowledge. Further challenges were data security and privacy issues that need to be addressed to mitigate the risks that can be caused by them. The examples of big data implementation in various cases like in heart failure prediction or prevention shows a positive picture. The overwhelming majority of case studies analyzed in this regard show an optimistic picture. Due to growing importance and use of smart devices, IoT, genomics and the recent developments in the field of ICTs, it is expected that big data will not only leave a positive influence on the field of Cardiology, it will also change the way medicine is practiced and healthcare is offered.The statement 'Data is the new oil' has been broadly acknowledged due to its wide-ranging importance. It applies the econometric model suggested by Ravallion (2001), Ravallion and Chen (1997) and Adam and Page (2005) for remittance and poverty and Quayyum et al (2008) for remittance and growth. Both micro and macro level impacts were considered. The regression results show that remittance flow is positively and significantly correlated with economic growth and poverty reduction in Nepalese context. The finding suggests that in the short run international remittance flow had positive contribution in economic growth and poverty reduction through investments in health, education and consumption. Remittance also contributed to relax credit constraints, especially for the poor and in macro level, helped to finance trade deficit, accumulate foreign exchange reserves and to reduce government debt. However, a deeper analysis of the last two decades shows that increased remittance flow has been the major cause of decline of tradable sector through 'Dutch Disease effects. Moreover, remittance contributed to higher inflation, eroded work habits and brought adverse social costs. Combined, the long term impact of remittance seems to be overwhelmingly negative in Nepal. …
