Ebd. - Alexander Stanislavovitch Dogiel (1852 - 1922) war ein russischer Histologe und Neurologe. 1883 promovierte er nach seinem Studium an der Universität Kasan. Seine Karriere begann er 1885 als Lehrender für Embryologie, danach unterrichtete er Histologie in Tomsk bis 1888, ab 1892 arbeitete er am Institut für Frauenheilkunde in St. Petersburg, wo er mit der Organisation des histologischen Laboratoriums beauftragt wurde. Er gründete d. "Archives russes d'anatomie, d'histologie et d'embryologie". Dogiel arbeitete zeitlebens isoliert, veröffentlichte wenige Publikationen, diese wenigen allerdings sehr umfangreich und reich illustriert. Er nahm eine wichtige Stellung in der russischen Histologie ein, er beeinflusste russische Wissenschaftler wie Bechterew, Baboukine, Yakulovitch und Doinikov, besuchte jedoch nie seine mitteleuropäischen Kollegen. Zu seinen wichtigsten Arbeiten gehören "Die sensiblen Nervenendigungen im Herzen und in den Blutgefässen der Säugethiere (1898), "Die Endigungen des sensiblen Nerven in den Augenmuskeln und deren Sehnen beim Menschen und den Säugetieren (1906), Der Bau der Spinalganglien des Menschen und der Säugetiere (1908).
