Single Issue Magazine. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good Plus. First Edition. Chicago: Ziff-Davis, 1948. First Edition. Volume 10, No. 9. Cover illustration by Robert Gibson Jones, interior b&w illustrations by Jones, Ramon Naylor, Joe W. Tillotson, William A. Gray, and Julian Krupa . 9 1/2 x 7 1/4, 154…pp. Illustrated wraps. In rather remarkable condition. The number fifteen (as an old resale price) is marked on the cover, as is a faint pencil marking. A bit of curling damage at one part of the rear cover. Otherwise, all wear is of the very small sort which precludes itemization. A solid Very Good plus, and a copy which was described by its experienced previous owner as being, in fact, Fine, by the standards according to which such pulps are generally graded. Perhaps so, but it's Very Good Plus to me. Still, a very strong condition for its genre and age. A nice example of one of the more recognized pulp serials of the Golden Age of science fiction and fantasy. This issue features a cover illustration by Robert Gibson Jones for the lead story, "The Lavender Vine of Death (Don Wilcox). I think I have one of those in my back yard. Illustration depicts what appear to be a nobleman and a pirate reacting with some consternation to the approach of a gigantic.ummm.lavender vine, which appears to be crushing all that it encounters, not to exclude a skyscrapers, though the scene is set in the countryside. Fortunately for these two gentlemen, there is a well-constructed and fetchingly-clad young lady of the "Good Girl" sort, popular on covers of the era, to protect them. Besides Wilcox' short novel, stories herein include: "Dark Wish" (William P. McGivern); "Hildy Finds His Wings" (H.B. Hickey); The Key (a novelette)(Berkeley Livingston); "Reggie and the Vampire" (Gerald Vance); and "Freddie Funk's Flippant Fairies" (Frances Yerxa). Standard short features are also included. A handsome example of an All-American Genre. Lg8. Jones, Robert Gibson [cover];Ramon Naylor, Joe W. Tillotson, William A. Gray, and Julian Krupa (illustratore).

Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Fine condition blue linen boards with gold front cover and spine lettering. Includes Author Dedication; About Henry Gray; Preface; List of American Editions of Gray's Anatomy; References; Biographical Index; and Subject Index. Illustrated with 1182 drawings, mostly in color. 1969, 28th edition. "The…changes in this edition are probably as extensive as those that have been made in any edition since 1887, when W.W. Keen amplified and improved the current English edition, and the publishers added color to some of the illustrations. In the present edition the entire book has been reset with new type in a two-column format. Every page has been rewritten to a greater or lesser extent with the result that this edition is more than a revision of the preceding one; it is practically a new book. It has given the editor an opportunity to make sure that the new Nomina Anotomica has been adopted throughout. In addition, suitable occasion was provided to replace many archaic and ambiguous terms such as "over" and "under", "above" and "below," or "in front of" and "behind" with more precise terms of directions such as "ventral" and "dorsal," "Superficial" and "deep," and "cranial" and "caudal." A diagram illustrating these terms has been placed in a new introductory chapter for ready reference. A fortunate circumstance has made it possible for us to have the artist, Don Alvarado, as a contributor. He has made a number of new drawings and has adapted others from recent publications. He has redrawn a number of the illustrations which needed changes in their labels to correspond to the new nomenclature. In doing this he has retained the flavor of the style in Van Dyke Carter's drawings for the first edition, but he has added a modern freshness and clarity which improve the Carter touch. His drawings for the pictorial initial letters appearing at the beginning of each chapter have introduced a special neatness into this genre of illustration. Henry Gray designed the book particularly for the benefit of students and the same intention has been uppermost in my mind in making the present revision. Where the material has been completely rearranged, as in the chapters on veins and lymphatics, the changes have been prompted by repeated expressions from students of a desire to have these parts less difficult to follow." - short excerpt from the Preface by Charles Mayo Goss. Alvarado, Don (illustratore).
