Trotz dieser strengen Qualifizierung attestiert Baumgartner dem Dichter "eine Sprache von tadelloser Reinheit und Richtigkeit" und stellt fest, dass Terenz "in der Folgezeit ein Liebling stilistischer Feinschmecker und lateinischer Puristen geblieben" sei (p. 374). - A. Lesky befasst sich nur marginal mit Terenz, und dies vor allem in Bezug zu Menander, bei dem sich Terenz - "der 'dimidiatus [halbe] Menander', wie Caesar ihn nan.
