A lot of tears and creasing to unclipped dustwrapper, minor bumping to spine ends and corners of green boards, previous owners name and address on f/ep dated Summer 1951, and unfortunately many of the illustrations have been coloured in with colour pencil, I suspect by the same girl. The story deals with a group of English girls who are on a trip to Belgium with their teacher at the time of the German invasion in 1940. They spend the next year moving through France to Brittany before escaping back to England. 191pp, numerous b&w drawings (mostly coloured in) Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
