The endpapers are identical, featuring a picture of a fawn, a rabbit, and a monkey next to a stream. All the illustrations are lithographs in black and white. The illustrator, Dorothy Lathrop, is also the editor of this English version of the Hindu author's original text. Lathrop was also the first Caldecott Medal winner in 1938 for her picture book "Animals of the Bible". The jacket is cream-colored with illustrations of all kinds of animals coexisting peacefully on the front. The back features a review of Lathrop's book "The Snail Who Ran". The front flap contains a summary of this book while the back flap features a summary of "Animals of the Bible". At two places on the spine, near the top and bottom, the jacket has been taped. The top and bottom edges are torn. The flaps have been clipped, but the price is still present. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
