Neppure presidenti come Clinton e Obama saranno in grado di imprimere un cambiamento di rotta. E due sono gli errori fondamentali che Dowd imputa alla sua nazione: aver incoraggiato l'innato egoismo della natura umana, trasformandolo in un'avidità senza fondo; e aver permesso che il razzismo continuasse a radicarsi nella società.
