Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. About 1 million inhabitants of the Soviet Union collaborated with the Nazis. This is a remarkable fact, because the Nazis, thanks to their racial policy, could not really be considered allies. And yet it happened. The aversion to Bolshevism and the hope for new freedom opened up a horizon in which collaboration between the Soviet peoples and the Germans seemed to offer a better alternative than the "Soviet paradise". Historical oppression and bloody experiences played a major role in this, especially among the Ukrainian, Crimean and Caucasian peoples. But there were also Russians who longed for the tsarist times of old. Within Nazi Germany, there was much resistance to this collaboration, but others were more practical and saw in the help of Soviet collaborators precisely the solution to the long campaign in the east. This led to a difficult but ultimately very large scale collaboration. Using documents and literature, the book gives an insight into the broad outlines of this extraordinary event. It was also a dramatic event, because the collapse of the Third Reich put the Osttruppen's desire for freedom into question, and a terrible end to it was drawn. Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. With the Soviet invasion of Poland on 17 September 1939, a secret and extraordinary pact came into effect. Two opposing ideologies, National Socialism and Communism, joined forces to wipe the hated Poland off the map. Even plans for a sub-Poland were eventually dismissed. This co-operation had earlier historical roots, but was also born out of practical necessity. Besides the origins of cooperation, we will reflect on the practical implementation of this pact. Europe's two largest armies fought the same opponent from opposite directions. With ideological diversity, conflicts and accidents lurked. Caution was imperative. Curiosity was there too; about each other's weapons systems, each other's armies and officers, and about the 'Jewish' political commissioners. Fear of friendly fire played a role a well, because accidents happen, and indeed things went wrong in several places. In the end, the spoils had to be divided. What were the implications of September 17th? Who actually won the most, and how did things continue? The partition of Poland was the kick-off of a hugely complex military and historical event. So far, the Devil's Pact has attracted more diplomatic-historical interest than factual. Thanks to new sources, including the released Russian archives (with German material), this pact can now be charted in more detail for the first time. This victory was celebrated, but it was like dancing on a volcano; it ultimately did not allow itself to be smothered. Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. At the end of 1941, after the invasion of the Soviet Union, an idea of collaboration with the Islamic peoples of the Soviet Union arose among the Germans. Although Hitler and high command were sceptic about a partnership with "Soviet citizens" in order to defeat Moscow, everyone did agree that the Islamic peoples of the Caucasus and the Krim were reasonably trustworthy allies. Especially the Turkmen were considered reliable. This led to a large-scale military and political collaboration. The SS joined as well and established the "Neu Turkestan" division, with help from the Grossmufti from Jeruzalem. This partnership came too late and suffered from the unbridgeable differences between the diverse ideologies. The experiment could not end in anything but drama. Furthermore, the collaboration at the Balkan, where Islamic volunteers served in the ranks of the Waffen-SS, is also touched upon. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Aggiungi al carrelloTaschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - The Crimea attracts a great deal of interest. The area is of great emotional value to Moscow. How this came about history teaches us from 1941 up to 1942, when Von Manstein's 11th army invaded the Crimea and began the siege of Sevastopol. It was the start of the heroic defence of the city by the Red Army. This book also elaborates on the massive collaboration of the Crimean-Tatars and the blood of the Jews which sticks to the hands of SS-officer Otto Ohlendorf and the Einsatzgruppe D.

Aggiungi al carrelloTaschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - Long before Hitler entered the stage, ariosopic thought already thrived in Germany en Europe. This boek provides a peak into one of the oldest sources on this theme: the early work of Rudolf von Sebottendorff, a mystical man who prophesied the downfall of the fatherland as a consequence of the stab-in-the-back myth. The grounds for anti-semitism, which became more fertile after the German defeat of November 1918, was formed by, a.o, Sebottendorff, as frontman of the Thule Society; a myterious and intellectual society that was determined to safe Germany from the 'Jewish communism'. They became the people who cleared a path for Hitler and the NSDAP. After 1933, Hitler banned the publications of Sebottendorff and the Thule Society disappeared into the background of history. Now, the old text of Sebottendorff's book Bevor Hitler kam (Before Hitler Came) is avaliable again and translated for the first time. The historic Perry Pierik wrote the introduction and annotated the text.
