Charles Nodier a consacré deux articles contradictoires à cette curiosité littéraire. L'auteur, Pierre-François Du Plessis d'Arenberg, marquis de La Chaume, qui se dissimule sous le pseudonyme de "Pierre François Prodez de Beragrem, marquis d'Almacheu", resta emprisonné onze ans à la Bastille pour avoir facilité l'évasion du P. Quesnel, détenu à Malines. Drujon, 'Livres à clef' donne la correspondance des anagrammes, noms de lieux et noms de personnes. (Drujon, 'Livres à clef', I, 599-602. Gay, III, p.146. Rahir, 1669.
