Large-format softcover in original printed wrappers, approximately 11 × 8.5 inches. Copy No. 149 of a scarce, self-published limited numbered edition — the sole edition, with no known reprint. A striking example of a French artist book built around a cohesive Napoleonic decorative program: endpapers patterned with gold Napoleonic bees alternating with a green "N" monogram, interior vignettes of facing eagles and a sarcophagus inscribed "Les Napoléonides," and printed wrappers illustrated front and back, an eagle bearing a sword in color on the front, and a Napoleonic "N" within a laurel wreath on the back. A red silk ribbon bookmark remains attached at the spine. An interior "Hommages" presentation leaf carries a cursive "Alfred Dubout" signature; whether this is a hand-signed inscription or a printed facsimile signature (common in editions of this type) could not be determined with certainty and would require in-person examination. As a privately issued, self-published limited edition with no ISBN or commercial distribution, the book saw only a small original print run typical of French artist books of the period, and surviving copies are correspondingly scarce over a century later. Of interest to collectors of Napoleonica, French illustrated books, and early 20th-century artist-published editions. Condition: Fair consistent with a century of age; issued in printed paper wrappers only, no dust jacket. Front cover: Notable toning and yellowing, creasing and wrinkling (most pronounced at the lower left corner and along the edges), a blue ink smudge/stain near the upper left, and scattered foxing. Back cover: More heavily affected, pronounced toning, a brown liquid stain at lower center, multiple foxing spots, and wrinkling throughout. Spine: Yellowed to a deeper amber/ochre tone, with visible wear, scuffing, and a mid-spine indentation. Corners: Worn. Endpapers: Comparatively well preserved, with only light edge toning. Interior/text block: Clean overall, with minor show-through from the verso. Extras: Original red silk ribbon bookmark present at the spine. Sold as-is, condition as described and photographed.
