En el presente estudio, se recogieron cuatro aceites esenciales (aceite de Punga, aceite de sésamo, álbum de Santhalum y aceite de mostaza) y se investigó su actividad antibacteriana. Se observó la máxima actividad inhibidora en el aceite de Santhanathi en comparación con los demás aceites esenciales. El aceite de Santhanathi mostró la máxima zona de inhibición contra Bacillus cereus (46 mm), seguido de Shigella flexneri (45 mm), Staphylococcus aureus (44 mm), Salmonella typhi (42 mm), Klebsiella pneumoniae (40 mm) y Escherichia coli (30 mm). La zona de inhibición mínima se observó en Acetobacter baumani (20 mm). No se observó ninguna zona de inhibición en el control ciego de DMSO. Los resultados de nuestro estudio recomiendan la posibilidad de utilizar el aceite esencial como antibacteriano natural en la industria alimentaria o farmacéutica. Puede concluirse que la investigación de las plantas ha abierto una nueva perspectiva en la investigación farmacéutica y que pueden utilizarse para el desarrollo de agentes antibacterianos potenciales y novedosos para el tratamiento de enfermedades bacterianas.…
