Prima edizione
Stiff boards. Condizione: Good. xi, [1], 641, [7] pages. Frontis illustration. Illustrations. Quizzes. Glossary. Index. Name of previous owner stamped on fep. Cover has some wear and soiling. This reflects the state of the art, the state of knowledge and the state of practice just at the United States was entering the Vietnam War. This revision into the thirteenth edition was undertaken at the request of the U.S. Naval Institute by the Standards and Curriculum Division, Training, Bureau of Naval Personnel. For nearly half a century The Bluejackets' Manual has been a basic training and reference text for hundreds of thousands of Navy men. During these years the book has incorporated the experience gained from two major wars, and has evolved into an ever more effective volume. This thirteenth edition is the most recent step in that evolution. The Bluejackets' Manual was originally prepared in 1902 by Lieutenant Ridley McLean, United States Navy and revised in 1914, 1916, 1922, and 1927 and was revised again in 1938. The Ninth Edition (Revised) was issued in April, 1939 and was the same as the eighth editions except for a few minor corrections and changes in the landing force regulations. The Bluejackets' Manual of 1940 gave all recruits the information necessary to integrate themselves into the Navy and be successful. Wartime editions provided near-real-time incorporation into lessons hard won with blood and sacrifice. The reader will find in this edition, everything a recruit would need to know such as: The History, The Rules and Regulations Uniforms and Insignias Ordnance, etc. There are a number of illustrations and photographs including a few oversized foldouts, many in color. Explanations of the how to's of being a Bluejacket! It is also a ready reference for the established Navy man to maintain necessary knowledge and proficiency. Sixteenth Edition. Presumed first printing.
