Decorated end-papers and pastedowns (Matching covers). This book is in amazing condition (NEAR FINE). The front inside paste-down has the personal and attractive bookplate of the previous owner. Book is accompanied by the original slipcase which has the same paper label with title and design as the book. The salmon colored slipcase is in fairly good condition. Although a bit soiled from handling over the years and with a few seam splits to the top portion this slipcase has protected the book well (in mylar cover) which explains the near fine condition of the book. The chief purpose of this anthology is to carry the decorations of Haldane Macfall. Macfall was a versatile artist and expressed himself through various mediums. These lyrics have been chosen for the decorative pen of the illustrator, but they also express his persona preferences. Most of them are of the Elizabethan period and are little known but nevertheless exquisite examples picked from the multitude of love lyrics written during that time by the editor.
