First of all, Agnes Marshall Walker, Dr. Walker's widow, worked hand in hand with him in the development of the manuscript, many portions of which she typed herself. She is responsible for the original idea of having the book published and for providing the manuscript, the illustrations, and the material that appears in the appendix and many of the references. She has fostered the development of virtually every phase of this project and all of us should be grateful that this work has resulted in a fitting tribute to an outstanding neuroscientist.
