Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good-. Reprint Edition. The publisher's foreword explains that this current publication is a reproduction of the second edition of Pyramid Passages by John and Morton Edgar, Bone and Hulley, Glasgow, 1923. The first edition was published in 1912-13 in 2 volumes, co-authored by the brothers even though John had died in 1910. Morton re-visited the pyramids and re-issued their book with a 3rd volume. This publication has included an enlightening 1929 speech by Morton Edgar and a scriptural index. The text makes reference to Rev.Charles T. Russell's "Divine Plan of the Ages." and the current publishers recommend familiarity with the 6 volume, "Studies in the Scriptures." All the above is to say this work on the Great Pyramid shows the proofs that it was built to illustrated the Divine Plan for Humanity. We have 2 copies of this work, this one is the 1976 original reprinting, the other (47715) is a 1988 second printing. Green cloth-covered boards, light edge-wear; Clean and Tight. Following the scholarly but general observations of Flinders Petrie, Piazzi Smyth and others of earlier explorations, the Edgars were the first to make thorough and precise measurements with contemporary tools of that day. They also wrote a number of Biblical treatises regarding character, doctrine and scriptural lessons. These works were reprinted and are still available in the 1,000 pages of Great Pyramid Passages and 360 pages of Faiths Foundations. John died in 1910. Morton died in 1950. Recently it became apparent that there are additional treatises, reports, discourses, letters and notes from these brothers, that were never published or reprinted. Gleanings from Glasgow gathers and presents this as supplementary to their more widely circulated publications. Because of the magnitude and diversity of this material, there are some anomalies in this format. The range of material includes specialized treatises, convention discourse reports, open letters and personal correspondence. With this diversity, the book is divided into three main sections as noted in the Table of Contents with items mainly arranged by date within each. Some items originated in Europe and others in America. The Letters: The larger portion of are between Hugo Karlen of Sweden and Morton Edgar. These frequently include advanced geometric analysis of the Pyramid as well as matters of mutual concern. Due to the complexity of some diagrams, a brief appendix expands on some of these aspects. ~ Contents > Preface . The Great Pyramid Portrayal of Creation (1923). The Great Pyramid Witness (1929). Prima edizione
Condizione: Good. First edition. Glascow, 1910. First edition. Quarto, good. VOLUME 1 ONLY. Red cloth, gilt illustrated front board. Color on front board is mottled but not damaged. Beveled edges. 301 pages, elaborately illustrated with photos, diagrams and 163 plates. An elaborate exploration of the connections between Biblical esotericism and pyramidology. Broadly speaking, this is the study of early pyramids with an eye toward uncovering their hidden metaphysical, mystical, prophetic, spiritual and/or theological significance. Among the more eminent of the early pyramidologists were the brothers Edgar (?-1910) and John (?-1950) Morton of Scotland. With the theroies of Charles Taze Russel as their guide, in June-July 1909 they traveled to Egypt to advance their inquiries by means of first-hand observation, measurement and photography of the Great Pyramid. Russell argued that the Great Pyramid had been built by the Hebrews and ?that the various ascending and descending passages represented the fall of man, the provision of the Mosaic Law, the death of Christ, the exultation of the saints in heaven, etc.? It was the significance of the pyramid?s internal layout and structure that was of particular interest to them. The work is heavily illustrated with photographs, drawings and diagrams the most important of which is ?Passage System of the Great Pyramid of Gizeh," Edgar died in 1910, but some time that year was published the first volume of their magnum opus in the form of "Letters Written Home" to their family of faith. In the rear is an evangelical prospectus urging others to spread the message of the Pyramids.
