Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. A very rare Statuta for a small diocese in Northern New York. The diocese of Ogdensburg was formed in 1872. Edgar P. Wadhams was appointed the first bishop and served until 1891. The Dioceses includes most of northern New York including most of the Adirondacks. Included are all of Jefferson, Lewis, St. Lawrence, Franklin, Clinton, and Essex Counties and the northern portions of Herkimer and Hamilton Counties. This rare first edition is inscribed by Bishop Wadhams to Thomas Pratt who was a priest in adjacent areas in Canada including the Thousand Islands. The book is primarily in Latin. The inscription reads "Mr. Thomas Pratt with kind regards of E. P. Wadhams, Feast of Our Lady of Mercy, Sept. 24th, 1875". Condition is very good with some speckling on the front cover and slight wear on the spine ends. The text gives instructions on the sacraments. The appendix contains statutes and instructions in English related to church governance. Included also is a complete list of the synod officials and the priests then serving the diocese with the communities they served.
